INA condemns Istanbul Reina Nightclub terrorist attack

On behalf of the International Nightlife Association and first of all, in relation to the terrorist attack on club Reina in Istanbul we want to condemn this hideous terrorist attack. At the same time, we express our heartfelt condolences to the turkish people, the families and friends of the victims in this tragic moment as they seek to recover from this deeply disturbing tragedy.

Once again, after the attacks on Bataclan in Paris and Club Pulse in Orlando, the nightlife sector has been hit again by a terrorist attack, so we are shocked and deeply saddened. We stand here in moral indignation and are, at the same time, filled with a huge sense of powerlessness but we will not stop working on improving safety measures in order to make nightclubs safer as we have been doing these last four years.

Joaquim Boadas de Quintana, General Secretary of the International Nightlife Association said this morning: "We want to launch an international appeal to all governments worldwide asking for help in order to collaborate with our sector to implement more security measures in nightlife clubs in as many countries as possible. Terrorism is a global threat that requires a strong and coordinated action from the international communit so, it is in this regard that prevention becomes  relevant but, of course, we can't do it alone".

Our association, as an Affiliate member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), will ask each of its members for an official meeting to explain our main concerns and what we are doing in order to improve nightlife venues safety, for the benefit of all citizens worldwide.

The International Nightlife Association has decided to maintain, as scheduled, the creation of the Turkish Nightlife Association in 2017, as a clear statement of support to the turkish nightlife sector and our common fight against any form of terrorism.
